Myself and other fellow beauty bloggers and editors were invited to the Fall/Winter 2013 MAC workshop and trend preview. It is always so interesting to learn about the upcoming looks, trends and techniques. Super talented senior Make-up artist Michelle-Lee Collins took us through each look step-by-step and I will go into more detail about each look at a later stage (I want to enjoy Summer and bronzey looks for now before heading back into Winter).
Lets just do a quick run-through of what we can expect next Fall/Winter…
All are gorgeous looks and the theme is that imperfect is beautiful too. Perfectly contrived contoured lines, linered lips and smudge-proof eyeshadows are out. This season is about slightly messy lived-in makeup. Think the morning after a big night out, lipstick might appear more ombre’d and smokey eyes have glided into one shade.
Reb-Elle is this seasons smokey eye look with shades of black, midnight blue, emerald and charcoal. It is dramatic and intense but the subtle lighter shading gives it a more piercing quality.
Spiritual-Eyes, a hauntingly beautiful look. Ghostly smokey shades and tired eyes.
Au-Currant’s tagline is undone but well-done. This consists of red ombre’d lips, deep matte reds in fact any shade of red works for this look.
Perspex-tive is all about looking plastic. Think glowing skin, shiny but strategically shiny (no oily T-zones aren’t in).
MAC has also just launched their online store here in South Africa, the first official online store in Africa, and they currently offer free delivery on all items to anywhere in South Africa. This is excellent news for those who don’t have a MAC counter near-by or would prefer to browse the full selection first.
If you need some assistance then the online store also offers an intuitive assistance function that allows you to put together looks and select appropriate tools. It also features tips from their senior make-up artists from around the world!
