Essence is one of my favourite make-up lines, I simply cannot walk past the counter without picking at least one item up. Essence is always on the ball when it comes to make-up trends and they release the most fabulous Trend collection each season. Their affordable and fun ranges create an excellent, easy introductory approach to make-up and I wish that Essence was available in South Africa when I was still in school. Even though I am not exactly Essence’s primary target market one can enjoy this range at any age and there is always something for everyone to play around with. The Class of 2013 trend is winding down but I still decided to pop up a mini review on my favourites.
Along with the make-up for this line they also included this adorable make-up bag in the shape of a school satchel (R 39.95).
The Essence Glitter nail polish is a top coat and can be used over any other shade or applied to the ring finger to create a sparkly accent nail. I find glitter polish fun to play around with but not something I would wear every day or apply to all my fingers necessarily. This is shade 01 college hero and retails for R29,95.
I adored the lip tint in 02 ready for rush week and at only R29,95 it is certainly the best bargain of the bunch. It not only smells delish and has a lovely rich shade but it also doesn’t budge. The lip stain is wonderfully strong and long-lasting. In fact it took 3 washes and a scrub to remove. Not bad for only 30 bucks!
The blush (R39,95) is another winner in the collection. It has a delightful copper undertone with a sensual shimmer and when applied these combine to form a subtle but noticeable blush effect.
Once swatched you can see the blush above is a very warm and coppery peach. The lip tint is a deeper red but isn’t too vampy and still creates a young and flirty shade.
Have you tried any of the Essence Class of 2013 trend products yet?
