Two new goodies recently arrived from Max Factor. I had spotted Max Factor in stores before but never really knew the history behind this iconic brand. Did you know Mr Max Factor himself coined the phrase make-up? He also created the first commercially available foundation and Max Factor make-up was the brand used on all the great stars of old Hollywood. He created signature looks for many stars among them were Jean Harlow, Ava Gardner and Marlene Dietrich. Now let’s get to the products I received…
I was given a Max Factor Colour Elixir Giant Pen Stick in 55 Mysterious Hazel. This shade makes a perfect dupe for MAC’s Spice lip liner and I find it to be the ideal tool for creating that infamous Kylie Jenner pout. Especially since it applies smoothly like a lipstick but has the texture and staying power of a lip liner. I may do a mini tutorial on this look.
Max Factor have a new lipgloss out- Colour Elixir Gloss, which is on shelves and retails R124.95.
I received the perfect spring shade 40 Delightful Pink. Firstly the packaging is so sleek and I like how heavy it feels in ones hands with its solid frosted gold wand lid. The formula is light and not sticky (isn’t that all we want from a lipgloss!). Even though there are shimmer flecks in this shade they are so fine that this gloss is suitable for all ages. It also smells yummy. Max factor Colour Elixir Gloss is available in 8 trend-led shades.
I will admit I had my reservations about Max Factor and had unfairly dismissed it as another mediocre drugstore brand. Not only is the pricing really good but so is the quality. For instance their lipgloss is on a par with the likes of Lancome and Bobbi Brown in terms of quality. So Mr Max Factor colour me impressed!
