I received these samples from Schwarzkopf about a month back and toyed with the idea of reviewing them. Firstly I like to review everything myself and I definitely don’t see myself going red violet any time soon. I did however test out the silver blonde in the bunch so that my review would be as honest as possible.
I am an avid box dye fan and have been playing around with varying shades of blonde for 10 years now. Very few hairdressers can in my opinion get blonde right (aside from the utterly fabulous David Gillson at Carlton who does my hair currently and fixes any box dye mishaps). Box dye can however be very daunting and I have considered adding a separate review section of all the different shades I have tested but dye is also dependent on many factors. What your base colour is, are you using a toner first and how porous your hair is can all play a major role in determining what shade you will end up with. Therefore what worked for a friend or a blogger may not suit.
After all that babbling let’s get to the Schwarzkopf Palette Deluxe hair colour…the range is available in 18 shades and with options such as Ruby Red Ginger, Silver Blonde and Blue Black you can instantly see that this is a range for exploration. Why be boring and stick to honey blonde when you can stand out with a sexy silver blonde which is not gray at all, the result is what I would call a Bergdorf Blonde (read the book if you ever get the chance) it is classy and looks expensive. Box dye allows one to step out of your comfort zone and play around with shades just remember to research if a warm or cool shade suits your colouring better. Generally an ash silver blonde works better on a cool tones and a honey golden caramel suits warmer tones when it comes to blonde shades.
If you are worried about box dye ruining or drying out your hair than Schwarzkopf Palette deluxe will change that perception for good, it contains seven oils- Marula oil, Argan oil, Sesame oil, Almond oil, Olive oil, Apricot Kernel oil and Macadamia oil! These truly make the world of difference and my hair felt like super soft and strong. The colour was also very rich and vibrant, it didn’t fade and apparently covers all greys.
The Schwarzkopf Palette Deluxe is exclusive to Clicks stores countrywide and retails at R94,99 per box.
