This was most definitely a weekend of overindulging and I enjoyed every minute of it! I love going for high tea and am so very pleased that more and more places (mainly hotels) are offering a wider selection of treats and sticking to the traditional high tea theme whilst still adding a South African element. Courtesy of Opulent Living I attended high tea at The Table Bay Hotel at the V & A Waterfront this past Saturday.
For the full high tea (R185 pp) there are three courses each served with either tea or cappuccino. The tea selection itself is superb, offering many varieties of oolong, green, rooibos and ceylon tea.
First course: savory sandwiches and quiches
Second course: Scones served with lemon curd, clotted cream, whipped cream and berry compote.
Third course: Sweet treats from the buffet table
With descriptions like Wild Dagga Chocolate Mocha Mousse in Chocolate cup and Raspberry Amarula Creme Brulee it makes choosing something both fun and daunting. I was craving chocolatey things (which is rare for me) so went for coffee crunch praline roll, flourless chocolate cake, fruit pavlova and the most delish koeksister that was spicy rather than sickly sweet.
The view is truly beautiful of the harbor and Table Mountain.
