Babylips Lip Balm Review

Everything Beauty, Reviews, Skincare By Mar 22, 2014

BabyLips seems to be a somewhat beauty blogger cult product. With overseas bloggers raving about it for years, I could never quite see the appeal. I mean yes the packaging is cute in a retro way and who doesn’t love a lip balm? But in all honesty how can a lip balm be that different from every other one on the market?

Maybelline somewhat sneakily introduced Baby Lips into SA and they also only seemed to be available at select random Clicks stores nationwide. For instance I happened to find these in a Stellenbosch Clicks stores after fruitless months of searching Cape Town stores.

At R30 each I couldn’t help but pick up all four variations on offer. Okay, yes the packaging is pretty darn cute.

So far my favorite of the bunch is the Blue Hydrate one. It doesn’t have any Colour to it and works so well under my lipstick. The scent is fresh and yummy but not as sweet as the others.

With Peach Kiss a close second, I am all kinds of obsessed with peach fragrances so this was a given for me and I like that it has a subtle natural nude shade to it which creates a groomed look without looking like a lipstick.

Pink Punch offers a feminine pink touch to ones lips with a sweet fruity scent.

Cherry Me I have a love/hate feeling towards. I absolutely love the yummy scent but a bit too much as in if I even open the lid my mouth starts to water. It smells exactly like a red fizz pop!

Overall, they are extremely moisturising and my lips remain moisturised even an hour after applying. The subtle hints of colour are also a plus and they are adorably cute.
